An Open Letter to Lindsay Johnson

Dear Lindsay,

I just read your story online, and I am shocked and saddened. Not just for your baby, but for you.

I know you're dealing with a lot right now and had to deal with a lot during your pregnancy. I wish you would have reached out to us, or a pregnancy center in your state. We could have helped you.

We would have confirmed your pregnancy and told you how far along you are. We would have helped you find a doctor for prenatal visits. We could even have helped you call them and make an appointment. We would have given you parenting classes and made sure you had the items you needed to be a mom.

If you were scared or angry we wouldn't have judged you. We would have loved and supported you - no matter what. If you weren't ready it would have been OK. We would have helped you find an adoptive family to care for your baby.

Unfortunately, you didn't find us or anyone like us. Let me say that I'm sorry for that. I don't know what was going through your head when you delivered him alone in the bathroom but you must have been terrified.

I wish it had ended differently. I wish, and maybe you do too, that your baby was still alive.

Can I tell you something? Jesus loves you. Yes, even after what you did. He loves you unreservedly. He wants you to turn to Him, to ask forgiveness, and to dedicate your life to Him. You probably feel completely broken right now, but He can make you whole.

Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

You didn't find a Pregnancy Medical Center soon enough to help your baby but one can still help you. Please reach out, find help, and find support.

God loves you, and I love you too.

In Him,

Sarah Bowen
